Haul: Boots & Superdrug

I’ve been shopping!! Wahoo!! Well should really be naughty Amy! I just can’t help myself :-/ but surely I can be let off as it’s all from Boots and Superdrug so I saved money on 3 for 2 offers and most importantly I gained lots and lots of points. Some may even call me coupon Amy 😉

Firstly I went into Boots, I always start with boots because here I can gain the most points and use the offers that get sent through your door to get an even better deal, you know like the vouchers such as ‘get 400 points when you spend £30’ or ‘get 200 points when you purchase any Trevor sortie product’. Another thing I do is use the boots card machine where you can print extra vouchers off.

Anyway, from Models Own I bought a luminous orange nail varnish in the Hedkandi collection called beach party in HK01. Also their artistic nail beads in neon pink fizz BD002. These are like the nail caviar, I thought they would be cool to use on an accent nail next to the luminous orange.

Next I headed over to Maybelline because I really wanted to try the colorsensational lipsticks. They had a 3 for 2 offer and me being me couldn’t just try one, I had to buy 3 different colours :-/ so I got 906 hot plum, 902 fuchsia flash and 910 shocking coral. My favourite is definitely shocking coral as I don’t tend to wear bright lipsticks, I normally stick to neutrals or reds but I fancy a change so hopefully they are good.

As you have seen if there’s a 3 for 2 on I don’t settle for 1 or mix the offer up between different brands so yes… I bought 3 sets of eyelashes. I got 100, 110 and 107 these are the lashes I always wear, I use 100 for more natural looks or a smokey eye. I only use 110 ever so often when they go with an evening look. Then 107 is more winged out so look lovely with a 1950’s winged eyeliner look. These are the easiest lashes I’ve ever used to apply, they are flexible and have a thin strip so I would really recommend trying these.

Heres the boring part, everybody always needs to keep a packet of face wipes and the Nivea ones were going cheap so thought i would give them a go. I have already used one before writing this post and I’m not sure I like them, I didn’t really enjoy it as it was so wet, yes It took my makeup off but when going over my eyes I could feel the moisture stuck in my lashes and was scared to open my eyes. However I can’t judge to soon I will use them more and see whether I will buy them again or go back to my trusted boots own ones.

Finally from Boots, I am on a mission to find a good drugstore foundation which I can use everyday without have to cry over using a foundation I have bought for £30 on every time I need to use a little extra on a bad skin day lol. A friend suggested Maybelline Dream Satin liquid foundation so I got the colour ivory and I will have to see how the colour matches and whether it does give an air-brush finish.

I ventured red around the corner to Superdrug, whenever I’m in Canterbury I always need to check out Sleek. I have a couple of Sleek products now and I love the contour kit, blushers and eyeshadows. So when I had a butchers the other day I was clearly on a bright colour splurge after visiting Boots as I then went on to buy the ultra mattes brights palette. I love the Sleek packaging, you know the snap you get when you close the lid? That’s when you know whether the packaging is good or not. These shadows have a lot to live up to as the other palettes have set a high standard 🙂

Although I only went in for Sleek, this caught my eye, I remembered someone on YouTube talking about them being great. I had recently watched a Cara Delevingne tutorial by Lisa Eldridge and she had used a colour similar to this so it had to be done. The pigment looks amazing from the swatch below so I am extremely excited to get cracking.

I’ve had fun shopping now I get to have fun trying all these products out 🙂

During and after your SiennaX spray tan

On The Day Of Your Spray Tan

  • On the day of your tan application do not use any products if you can help it such as, oils, moisturisers and make-up, deodorant or perfume /after shaves. If they are not properly removed the spray tan can look streaky, blotchy unnatural, unevenly colored and not to the spray tans fullest looking potential
  • Please make sure though you do not have a shower on the day before your appointment as skin pores will be open and don’t want brown filled pores!
  • Shave and exfoliate 24-48 hours hours before the appointment as this will also open your pores.
  • Remove jewellery.
  • Pull hair up and away from face and neck with a hair tie of some sort.

After Your Tan

  • Plan ahead before your appointment by wearing loose, dark clothing and flip-flops or loose fitting shoes. Tight clothes and underwear can leave marks and ruin your tan.
  • Do not exercise or swim during the development time.
  • If you’re not showering until the morning then wear loose gloves or socks in bed to prevent hands accidently touching your body during your sleep and leaving hand marks on your beautiful tan.
  • Do not shower or bathe for the development period (8-10 hours) after your tan.
  • Use a light body wash like Sienna X Balance Body wash, it’s so mild and gentle that it won’t strip your colour and is kind enough to use on your face.
  • Pat dry after showering- not not rub dry

Don’t Forget

  • When you take a shower or a bath you will probably see some colour wash off. Don’t worry. This is quite normal as it is
only the colour guide that the spray tan technician uses when the tan is applied.
  • A sunless tan can begin to fade over time as the skin’s natural cells begin to flake off and regenerate. The more moisture in your skin, the longer your tan will last and the more natural it will appear. Hydrate the skin with quality moisturizers and drink plenty of water.
  • Moisture Mositure Mositure after you tan to extend your golden glow
  • Never exfoliate immediately after a spray tan.
The skin only goes scaley when you don’t moisturise regularly twice a day after your spray tan.
  • Once they see the tan start to fade/go patchy usually after a good 5 – 7 days, to gently exfoliate every day. This should help the tan fade more evenly and avoid the scaly look that it can give the skin and always try to keep your skin moisturised.
  • Use Sienna X products from the prolong range to extend the life of your tan and keep your gorgeous glow.
  • Avoid long hot baths and showers as these speed up exfoliation.
  • Cholorinated pools /Hot Tubs or sea water as these can reduce your tan. Applying a waterproof sunscreen prior to subemerging can reduce the fading process.

Top 10 tips for preparing for your SiennaX spray tan

Achieving a beautiful sunless tan without mistakes is easy when your skin is properly prepared for the treatment. Your spray tanning appointment itself is quick and can be completed in as little as ten minutes which allows you the freedom to prep your skin to suit your schedule. Preparations can be done in advance and will smooth out the skin to give the best base for your spray tanning product. So to achieve a flawless, natural tan by following these simple 10 tips.

1. Buff away dry skin before treatment with a gentle natural exfoliator. This will make your tan last much longer by revealing new skin.

2. Wax at least 24 hours before treatment, ideally 48 hours before to allow the pores to close.

3. Shave at least 24 hours before treatment and apply a rich moisturiser to replenish dry skin.

4. Moisturise generously the day before, ideally overnight. This will prevent dryness and provide the perfect tanning base.

5. Rinse off any products, perfume, oils, moisturisers and make up before attending your spray tanning appointment.

6. Dark, loose cotton and jersey fabrics and dark underwear without tight waistbands are ideal to wear before and after your spray tan. Some of the guide colour can be easily removed by tight fitting clothing so it is best to keep clothing loose.

7. If you are new to spray tanning, a patch test before your treatment is always recommended to ensure the tanning formula is suitable for your skin.

8. Take some hair ties along with you if you have long hair to keep the back of your neck and shoulders free.

9. If you have to run any errands after your spray tan, you can take deodorant to apply afterwards once your tan has set.

10. Applying nail polish to fingers and toes will help to protect the nails from any discolouration from the tanning product.

If it is your first time receiving a spray tan it is advisable to have a patch test done before your treatment. However, it is very rare for the skin to have any adverse reactions to spray tan formulas as the active chemical ingredient works by reacting with naturally occurring amino acids in the skin.

After following these useful tips you are ready to get your spray tan to achieve the best results.

Sienna X spray tan fun!

This morning i went on my merry way to London. Where yes, as you can guess from the title, I learnt how to spray tan. It was such a good day and I learnt so much. I never knew that spray tanning was so interesting and fun! I have caught the bug and now not sure if I can stop 🙂

The most interesting thing I found was that the tan is not a colour, the colour will only develop through a natural reaction to the way you naturally tan in the sun. So if you use the same strength solution on 50 people the colour will not be the same from person to person. Interesting, I no! I always thought spray tans = the tangoed look. Shame on me.

Sienna x gives a gorgeous, natural looking tan for up to 7 days, without any danger of skin damage. It’s quick, its safe and so natural looking. Nobody will even know 😉

I hope to see some of you soon when I bring this service to you guys. Soon everyone will be tanned 😉

Happy 40th Kate Moss!

I don’t know about you guys but this lovely lady definitely deserves a mahousive HAPPYYYY BIRRTHDAYYY from all of us. Kate Moss turned 40 last week (16th January) and isn’t she gorgeous? This women is not only extremely stunning but also an inspiration, through everything Kate has managed to keep her career moving for an amazing span of years. Therefore I now name her a ‘superdupermodel’. Kate decided to celebrate her birthday with a four day bender including a festival in her garden (as you do). Florence and the Machine, Mark Ronson, amongst others all took the stage to perform for her and her guests. Even Noel Gallagher serenaded her, now that’s something I would love to see.

Kate Moss with her beautiful daughter Lila Grace by photographer Mario Testino

To celebrate turning the big 4-0, this beautiful and sexy mother of one still has got it as she flaunts her ‘thang’ for Playboys 60th anniversary. Hubba Hubba 😛

I just felt this needed to be done and also me and my friends have all been joking about turning 30 recently as everyone is getting another year closer. Don’t get me wrong I am only 22 but still… So life doesn’t stop at 30, apparently it just keeps getting better (phewww)

Happy birthday Kate Moss

Toodles 🙂

It’ssss….. Christmasssss!!

The words of Slade… Itsss Christmasss!! And I have invited my lovely friendys over for our own Christmas dinner! Now… They found this hilarious as I am possibly the worst cook! (I have burnt things in the microwave :-/ ha) but you can’t kill me for trying… So, Christmas dinners are normally about roast turkey, roast potatoes, veg, the horrid Brussels! But oh no… My Christmas dinner is… Drum rolls please… FAJITAS AND NACHOS!! Now who doesn’t like a good ol’ Mexican? Of course a chocolate gateau goes down perfectly after 😀 I pulled out all the stops and have decided to share with you our evening…

Fairy lights and candles to set the mood ;-P

Sour cream mountain!! Chloe just couldn’t help herself, silly sausage 🙂

We all love a Christmas cracker hat!

Chloe seems to have been replaced by a Christmas tree :-/

We then went on to carry on the night with a few drinks and bubbles, then we all got a little competitive playing Articulate (some more then others :-/) so photos was the last thing on our minds. Overall a lovely night with great company that ended up like something out of Ab Fab in fur coats, glass of Prosecco in one hand, a wonky Christmas cracker hat and a little plastic hair clip and fake lips ha!

I hope everyone is having a very festive Christmas time like I am with my lovelies

Absolutely fabulous darling

MAC AW13 masterclass (& shopping oops)

So AW13 is upon us and I went on a jolly journey to London Chelsea to visit the mac store on kings street (Unfortunately not seeing any of the made in Chelsea cast). The only reason I was able to do this was through an opportunity with DFMA. We was shown the look below from London fashion week, then used the rest of the time to network and go SHOPPING!!

So… I went shopping (naughty) but… I personally don’t call it shopping, it’s purchasing essentials that will further your career and got a hefty discount (Ehh). Mainly in my head at the time was what do I need to add to my bridal makeup kit? My first thought was a good sheer foundation which is also buildable and of course MAC face & body is always a good option for a natural look. I got the lightest in N1 and a darker in N9, then I am prepared for porcelain to dark skin and can mix them together with my already existing foundation to get correct colours for different skin tones.

Tip- One of the lovely helpful ladies did suggest to pair up with another friend, then you can purchase a couple colours each and split them into empty bottles to get more colours as the 120ml bottles last for yonks.

As I chose a light foundation, I picked up a MAC Pro Longwear concealer in NC25 as I already have a derma blend palette for darker skin tones. Pro Longwear is a lot higher coverage for any ‘troubled’ areas my clients may have.

MAC fix+ is spoken about a lot on YouTube that I have seen and always looked so, of course the minerals in it are good for your skin as well! but it’s so refreshing And there is nothing worse then when you have blow dried hair and the feel for the client when you put makeup on stuffy skin.

MAC blush in harmony I have been told by Lyndsey Harrison is perfect for contouring on a bride for a natural look as it’s completely matte and is an orange tangoed bronzer 🙂 Anyway it was actually used in the tutorial today so that was it, SOLD! (How annoying is it that the packaging is upside down in the photo above!)

MAC pigment in Vanilla is a gorgeous highlighter, I used when I was at DFMA, so that was a must 😛

I have so many different colour eyeshadows but in my MAC palettes I have neutrals, greens, purples, so thought I would go for more red/pink colours, then I can be a little more romantical for people. I had to go for a more neutral ‘all that glitters’, then the middle shade is called ‘paradisco’ and then the darkest which will be a lovely crease colour is ‘coppering’.

Lipsticks are the one thing I can’t get really carried away with, which is strange considering I tend to wear a neutral lip, does not stop me buying every colour in the rainbow! So I went with the classics, MAC matte lipstick in Russian red was used in the tutorial so of course twisted my arm, MAC matte lipstick in lady danger just jumped out at me it’s a brighter red but more orangey so will look lovely with ladies with blue eyes. Then there is the neutrals, I got MAC cremesheen lipstick in pure zen and MAC glaze lipstick in hue, these will look lovely on the natural brides I was thinking.

Day 2- Smokey eye

I had a fabaroo day today, I do enjoy a good smokey eye, and i love trying out different colours. So  Day 2 is all about the smokey eye With Davinia again.

1) cleanse

2) toner- a nice little spruce up

We will apply the foundation after we have done the eyes as it is highly likely we will get a lot of fall down.

3) take a brow pencil and draw onto the back of your hand, use it as a gel with an angle brush.

4) start in the middle of the brow to add depth, then just use to fill in.

5) check the brows are the same, if not use a pencil to even them out.

6) using black kohl eyeliner, you lift up from underneath the eyebrow with your thumb to make the eyelid tight, this allows you to get the black eyeliner all over the eyelid and fill the flesh between the lashes.
7) with the eye open mark out just over the socket line so you know where to fill to. This stops the eyebrow from protruding.
8) eyeliner also needs to be pushed into the lower line and under the eye.
9) take a medium fluffy brush and blend out the edges of the liner. Make sure you take off any access liner on the back of your hand throughout so you don’t just spread the black.
10) choose a smokey grey shadow and a shadow brush and push the shadow onto the liner, this will pack on and stick to the base.
11) in a lighter grey, use a fluffy brush to blend over the whole eye and blend out any lines.
12) take a smudge brush to blend under the eye and the outer corner.
13) using a small lip brush, wet with a little water as this will make it easier to pick up glitter and place a little in the centre of he lower lash line. This adds a shine whenever the client blinks.
14) clean off any drop down with toner.

masking tape is a really good way to remove any glitter that has fallen.

15) clean up the inner corner of the eye with a q-tip, before highlighting. Then highlight underneath the eyebrows to pop the brow bone.
16) either using black eyeliner, or a coloured eyeliner for a pop of colour, fill in the waterline.

17) use a full coverage foundation and make sure you run the brush over the lips to knock back the colour. If the hair is tied back then go over the ears as well, the last thing you want is totally different coloured ears that show up.
18) conceal under the eyes with a fluffy brush, take off the majority of product on the back of your hand so it’s just being buffed in.

take a step back and check the eyebrows, if they are looking lost as it is a heavy eye look add to them.

19) to powder into place use a fan brush.
20) apply blush to only the apple of the cheeks and use a smaller fluffy brush for more accuracy.
21) a highlighter for the cheek bones, Mac stardust is a good product, use a large fluffy brush to.

glitter or shimmer looks like sweat on TV

22) we just want to give the lips a little stain, so use a beige colour with a lip brush to apply, then tap in with a finger to make softer.

Finishing touches
23) trim lashes if they need to be, out the glue on the back if your hand to get tacky, then apply to the lashes and place along the lash line.
24) apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes…

… And wallah!!

I you have never noticed how purple eyeshadows bring out green eyes you can see in these photos.

Day 1- flawless face

In day one Davinia Fermi taught us the flawless face, to enhance the natural skin. Now wouldn’t it be nice for me to share my notes with you from a celebrity makeup artist?! Oh yes it would so here we go, underneath is the step by step tutorial I had the pleasure of taking part in 🙂

1) The first step is to always cleanse the skin, you can use oil which is good to use on any type skin, this will remove any make up and dirt.
2) mist water over the face and wipe away with cotton wall we used Evian water spray, this will remove any of the oil and after run over the skin with toner also using cotton wool.

if there is a warm atmosphere don’t use moisturiser this will make the make up slip

3) apply Mac strobe cream all over face except on TV you need to use a matte primer to reduce shine.
4) apply foundation starting with the centre of the face where most of the coverage is needed and blend outwards. You can blend out the foundation with a moisturiser so you can still see the skin through. Make sure you cover underneath the nose and over the lips, this will block out colour to give you a blank canvas.

Test foundation on the chest/collar bone to match face to the body. You shouldn’t have to go down on the neck if the foundation is the correct colour and check all over the body to ensure that the hands match the colour of the face, and any other body parts on show, you don’t want a photograph with white hands and a tanned face.

As we have been given Mac Pro Longwear foundations in our kit, first we must understand the “Code” that MAC uses to categorise its colours. Each foundation has a set of letters (NC or NW) followed by a set of numbers, so for example my colour is NC20. Now to really understand the code….
NC – (Neutral Cool) These have a yellow undertone. This is the cool undertone according to MAC.
NW – (Neutral Warm) These have a pink undertone. Yes, this is the warm undertone.
The numbers that follow these letters simply tell you how dark the foundation is. For example, NC20 is lighter then NC45.

5) use oil free concealer, now this will make it sweat proof and waterproof you will need to warm it up on the back of your hand so it goes on very smooth. We used derma colour palette.
6) powder time! Dust over the face mainly around the nose and where you have applied concealer to set everything in place. On set take powder to blot any shines and oily areas.
7) a fan brush will gently apply a little blush over cheek bones but also apply a little down the centre of the nose to give a fresh, dewy look.
8) add some glow in you cheeks, temples and any high points of your face by using a touch of bronzer.
9) My favourite part, eyebrows! Brush them out with what looks like a mascara wand. Use an angle brush and use small strokes, start higher to lift the eye.

stay clear of orangey browns, use colours like khaki for blondes that way no ginger eyebrows

That’s skin done, but if we wanted to we could go on to add a little to the eyes and lips.

1) with your thumb, place it under the eyebrow and pull up so there is tension on the eyelid. Using brown kohl eyeliner, line the lash line to add depth and smudge up with a fluffy brush.
2) using a soft fluffy brush apply a bronze over the socket and take slightly over the socket to stop the eye sinking back.
3) smudge a little bronze under the eye.
4) highlight under the eyebrows, Cupid’s bow (centre of the top lip line) and the inner corner (tear duct area).
5) to define the eyes more use eyeliner on the tight line (upper waterline).

always ensure you have filled in the tight line, you don’t want any dodgey photos of the models head tilted back and seeing a fleshy colour coming through and ruining the beautiful eye makeup you have just done.

1) check the shape of the lips and use a lip liner to correct and define.
2) select a neutral lipstick, good if it’s nearly the same colour as the clients and use a lip brush to apply.
3) adding a little shadow over the lipstick sets it in place to help it last longer.

Thank you Davinia for our first lesson and cannot wait for the next, so for now I’m off to have a play with everything got in our kits today and wash all my makeup brushes ready for tomorrow.
